So, I thought I would share with you some of the pet related gifts that I love and recommend! I also include Amazon ad links for each product to save you more time on your holiday shopping! Just click the link and it will take you directly to the amazon page for the products shown.
Dog Gifts
Roasted Bones:
One of my favorite dog bone products are roasted bones. These are all-natural beef bones that can be great for both large and small dogs. They provide entertainment, stress relief, and dental health! I have included two Amazon links, one for larger bones, and one for knuckle bones that are smaller. These bones can make really good gifts for your doggos this Christmas!
Himalayan Milk Chews:
Another great chew for dogs is a little lesser known, the Himalayan Milk Chew. These are made of Yak Milk and are much more durable than other chews and thus, are great for heavy chewers!
Interactive Toys:
Interactive toys can be great for any dog of any age. One thing you want to keep in mind is how new your dog is to interactive toys. If your dog has never used interactive toys before, start easy by letting them see where you hide the treats and making it a little easier for the dog to get them out. As the dog learns how the toy works, gradually make it harder for them. The first of these interactive toys shown below has small compartments that you hide treats under. Each compartment slides open and closed. This game can be made easier by leaving the compartment half open the first few times your dog uses the toy. The second toy shown below has only one opening and the dog must knock the toy around until the treats come out of the hole. This game can be more challenging for the dog so you can help them by tossing a treat near the toy each time the dog hits it with its paw. Eventually the dog will hit it harder and the treats that fall out will motivate the dog to keep trying.
Cat Toys
SmartyKat Catnip toys:
Catnip toys can be fun for any cat, plus these look like mice! These can be great for enrichment and play time. Just leave this toy out for your cat and watch them have fun!
SmartyKat Hot Pursuit Toy:
This toy is made up of a feather toy that moves around underneath a covering, making it a quite the enticing toy for any cat! The movement of the toy not only keeps your cat interested, but also entices them to chase, giving them exercise as well!
EcoCity Cat Toys:
Anyone with a cat probably already has one of these, but it is always nice to have more than one as the feather might wear out over time. These are simply a feather toy on the end of a string. Just drag it across the ground and watch your cat enjoy the chase!
Horses
Horses also love to play! However, if your horse has never played with a toy before, be sure to introduce the toy slowly and with lots of treats! You can start by leaving the toy on the ground outside the fence so they can sniff it while still feeling safe. Once they get used to the toy, you can put it inside the fence and let them investigate it once more. Once they are used to the toy being inside the fence, you can teach them to play with it by giving them a treat for walking toward it, then for touching it, and eventually for pushing it around and chasing the toy!
Mega Beach Ball and Jolly Ball:
The first toy is a large inflatable ball with which you can teach your horse to play soccer! The second one is Jolly Ball. Horses who like to play with Jolly Balls often like to toss them around or simply pick them up and run around with them! Click the links below and then enjoy watching your horse frolic with his new toy!
Gifts for People!
I am sure you know people who love animals! If you are looking for some great gifts for your animal loving friends, or animal trainer friends, here is a list of some of my favorite pet lover gifts!
Stairs:
This might not seem exciting, but stairs for your pet can be very helpful at times. Though I have not personally needed to use stairs for a pet, I do recommend them as they can be a great gift for anyone with a small or elderly dog. Pet Stairs can help pets get up on the bed, couch, or even into the car (though this specific set is best for indoor purposes).
Getting Started Training Package:
This can be great for anyone who wants to get into positive reinforcement with their pets! This package comes with a clicker, a book on how to use it, some treats, and some great behaviors to train with this fun training method!
Terry Ryan Training Pouch:
This training pouch was designed by a mentor of mine who led me through my animal training certification class! This pouch is designed to be easy to use and it has a special closing mechanism to keep pets from sneaking treats! It is also machine washable!
Willow Tree Ornaments and Sculptures:
Willow Tree Ornaments and Sculptures are adorable and make a sweet gift for anyone who loves animals! They are a great expression of love for the animal world and there are sculptures for dog lovers, cat lovers, and horse lovers!
